artist & art

Hi, I’m Mon, the artist behind thalzy.

I’ve always been drawn to the sea - its colors, its movement, and the way it changes with the light. It is where I feel happiest, and many of my ideas come from the coastlines I’ve visited and the memories I bring home with me.

I design and create my own molds, then cast, sand, and finish every piece entirely by hand. This hands-on process gives each sculpture its own subtle variations and individual character.

Thalzy will grow through a series of small collections, each inspired by a different place, color, or memory of the ocean.

Thalzy is my way of holding on to the feeling of summer and turning memories of the sea into something you can keep.

Caring for your artwork

Your thalzy artwork is made with high-quality epoxy resin and can be enjoyed for many years with the right care.

Resin naturally changes slightly over time, which means your artwork will slowly evolve with you. Its colour and appearance may subtly change over the years, becoming part of the story of your piece. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and heat can speed up this process and may cause the resin to develop a warmer tint.

The funny thing about resin is that it looks its best in sunlight - the light brings out the depth, reflections, shadows and tiny bubbles in the piece. However, it should not be left in direct sunlight all day, every day, as prolonged UV exposure can gradually change its colour.

For everyday display, artificial light is the best option. A well-positioned light source can beautifully highlight the different layers, reflections, shadows and bubbles within the resin without exposing the artwork to constant UV light.

Keep your artwork indoors and away from radiators, fireplaces and other sources of excessive heat. If you do place it in natural light, avoid spots where strong sunlight falls on the artwork for long periods of the day.

To clean the surface, use a soft, lint-free cloth and a little water. Avoid abrasive materials, strong cleaning products and anything that could scratch the surface.

Variations

Each thalzy artwork is handmade, which means small variations in colour, texture, bubbles and light reflections are natural. These details make every piece unique.
